Description

 

Introduction to Astronomy

Jason Archer and John Mezsaros, astronomers and educators.

 

This is for stargazers and those who like to ponder the mysteries of the universe.  Using the planetarium for adults and older teens this will present an introduction to planetary stellar and galactic astronomy as well as introduce a basic understanding of our night sky and the many celestial objects found within.

The Planetarium is located at the:  Glastonbury East Hartford Magnet School, 95 Oak Street, Glastonbury.

Enter at the main school entrance.  The planetarium entrance is just inside to the left.  Doors will open at 6:30 pm

Please Note:  You must arrive 6:30-6:45 pm, as class starts promptly at 7:00 pm after which the planetarium doors are closed.  They cannot accept late arrivals.

 

The Rocky Planets

The rocky planets of our solar system- Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars- all come from a common origin and the same basic building blocks. Yet each has developed in its own unique way. In this class we will tour the rocky planets and learn about their landscapes, atmospheres, geology and other features.
